# What it is

48 nations qualify for the World Cup. ownGoal deploys one ERC-20 token for each one — $ARG, $BRA, $FRA, and so on — plus a single protocol token, $OG. You hold $OG to play, then swap it into the country tokens you believe in.

When a nation is eliminated, its token supply burns to zero and the $OG locked against it flows to the nations still alive. By the final whistle, 47 of the 48 tokens are dead and one holds the value of all the others.

It is not a fantasy league and it is not a sportsbook. It is a closed-loop market where every match result is a value-transfer event.
